It's all newwww

" Sustainability and fashion"
These two things combined are what my life is going to be revolved around for the next 3 months! Design Studio 4 is challenging us this semester to throw our previous design processes to the wind and take on this challenge from a new angle.

Assessment 1: involves presenting research and investigative studies in to the issues of sustainability relating to the fashion design process and through this research develop an informed personal philosophy of sustainable design practice. Utilising this research we will produce a body of work that explores a more sustainable design/make model of fashion practice.

EXCITING! We are also working with "For US by US" in a collaborative project between 26 fashion design students in my design class and 6 local emerging artists. Each artist and their work will be used to inspire us designers to create garments that will be exhibited in a fashion film and documentary.

HEIDI STEVENS is the Brisbane artist that I am collaboarting with. Her practice moves fluidly between concepts of fashion and art, reflecting on how textiles can contain and reveal femininity. Heidi’s sculptural works are made with the intention to document her low key performances, which are then presented as photographs and video installation pieces.

I am so excited to jump into this project with Heidi!

I am currently delving in to all sorts of areas of sustainability within fashion to create research that will influence my design ideas when looking for the materials that I want to use.

I'm off to so some more research!
